HOW TO TAKE MEASUREMENTS
MEASUREMENT VISUAL
GENERAL TIPS
Use a flexible measuring tape – A soft, fabric tape measure provides the most accurate results.
Measure over fitted clothing or wear tight-fitting clothes – Avoid bulky layers for true body measurements.
Keep the tape snug but not too tight – It should be flat against the skin without squeezing.
Measure at the fullest part of each area – Ensures enough room for movement.
Stand naturally and breathe normally – Do not suck in your stomach or flex muscles.
Use a mirror or have someone help – This prevents twisting the tape and ensures accuracy.
HOW TO TAKE SPECIFIC MEASUREMENTS
Chest
Wrap the tape around the fullest part of the chest, under the arms.
Keep it parallel to the ground and level across the back.
Ensure the tape is not too tight or too loose.
Waist
Find the natural waistline, the narrowest part of the waist (just above the belly button).
Stand relaxed and do not hold your breath.
Ensure the tape is level around the entire waist.
Hips
Stand with your feet together and measure around the widest part of the hips.
Keep the tape level and flat against the body, not drooping in the back.
Inseam (for pants)
Measure from the crotch down to the ankle (where you want the pants to end).
If measuring yourself, use a well-fitting pair of pants as a guide.
Sleeve Length
Bend your elbow slightly and measure from the center of the back of your neck, over your shoulder, and down to your wrist.
Keep the tape slightly loose for comfort.
Height
Stand straight against a wall, without shoes.
Have someone mark the top of your head and measure from the floor.
